Swimming Lessons for Babies
At AQUA S.T.A.R., we emphasize the importance of early swimming lessons for children’s safety and confidence. Drowning is unfortunately the leading cause of accidental death in children under 4 years old.
However, studies show that swimming lessons can reduce this risk by up to 88%. By starting lessons as early as 6 months old, we can help your child become comfortable in the water, reducing fear and apprehension. Early exposure to swimming not only promotes safety but also lays the groundwork for a lifelong skill.
Our infant and toddler swim lessons are designed to be engaging and enjoyable. We incorporate water play, fun songs, and toys, along with close interaction with a parent or trusted caregiver.
This combination fosters a supportive and social environment in our small, warm-water pools, making the experience both enjoyable and beneficial. The presence of parents or caregivers during these lessons helps children feel secure and builds their confidence in the water. As they play and learn, children begin to associate the water with fun and positive experiences.
We offer specialized classes that are tailored to help parents and their little ones work together to develop foundational swimming skills. Starting lessons as early as 6 months old, we focus on key skills such as being comfortable in the water, breath control, floating, and kicking.
These lessons are crucial for building the basic water safety skills and confidence that will serve as the foundation for future swimming proficiency. By beginning at a young age, children can develop a natural and fearless approach to water.
We are often asked about ISR (Infant Swimming Resource) lessons and their focus on survival float or self-rescue techniques. While water safety is our top priority, our approach differs from ISR. We believe in teaching swim skills that allow children not only to float but also to move confidently and efficiently in the water.
ISR methods involve repeated exposure to underwater experiences to teach babies to roll onto their backs and float. While floating is an important safety skill, we prefer a less traumatic approach, focusing on creating a positive and enjoyable learning environment. Our curriculum aims to teach children to love and respect the water while developing essential swim skills.
At AQUA S.T.A.R., our philosophy centers on teaching water safety skills in a nurturing and encouraging environment. We believe that children learn best when they feel safe and happy. Our lessons aim to instill a love for the water while teaching fundamental swim skills that are critical for safety. We stress the importance of choosing a swim program that aligns with your child’s needs and temperament.
Before enrolling in an ISR program or other toddler survival swimming programs, we encourage parents to research thoroughly to ensure the approach is suitable for their child. At AQUA S.T.A.R., we focus on building confidence, joy, and respect for the water in every swimmer.
